EL BORICUISMO DE MI BAQUINE

Francisco Oller, one of the most prominent Puerto Rican painters who exhibited in Paris next to Renoir, Monet and Sisley, crystalized in his painting “El Velorio” (The Wake) the magic-religious sensibility that’s part of the idiosyncrasy of my island. Using this iconic art piece as my inspiration, I generated a multidisciplinary exhibition that took place in a major gallery of Old San Juan in 2005.
